One of the darkest legends in the Realm of the Elderlings recounts the tale of the so-called Piebald Prince, a Witted pretender to the throne unseated by the actions of brave nobles so that the Farseer line could continue untainted. Now the truth behind the story is revealed through the account of Felicity, a low-born companion of the Princess Caution at Buckkeep.

While not a true prequel, I was happy to finally read about the Piebald Prince so often mentioned in the other books. A quick read, and more to satisfy your curiosity about Dutchies history, it's worth the read.

Shows early history and future customs of the six duchies, when they were one kingdom. Fast paced story, accurate character portrayal, and shows character twists that are usually hidden. Overall very good read.

There was a lot of interesting horse lore in this story, but it didn't take advantage of the whole horse-human bond idea, and it ended up a bit depressing.
