Meals in Edwardian times often went on for three or four hours, but the Captain had a comparatively light meal that night, partaking of the Oysters à la Russe, Filet Mignon Lili served with Pommes Anna, Calvados Glazed Duckling with Apple Sauce, and Asparagus Salad with Champagne-Saffron Vinaigrette.

I read this book in 1 day! Not only do you learn the last meals of legendary people in history, but you also get the recipe for the meals! Great addition to any book club gathering!

An interesting read about the last meals of some of history's greats along with a synopsis of their last hours.

Being a chef and history enthusiast, I looked forward to this book but was completely underwhelmedd by its lack of historical depth and boring recipes. Written like an 8th grade history textbook, simple historical facts and no real insight to the food of these figures days...it was uninspired and lacking any discernible depth. Other Last Supper/Final Meals books are much more robust and enlightening. Blah.
