Don Sheldon has been called 'Alaska's bush pilot among bush pilots', but he was also just one man in a fragile airplane who, in the end, was solely responsible for each mission he flew, be it a high-risk landing to the rescue of others from certain death in the mountains of Alaska or the routine delivery of supplies to a lonely homesteader. I grew up on Alaskan FAA stations(1957-1972). Don Sheldon was my first boss. To South 48 people, my neighbors will seem extrodinary, but to Alaskan Bush folks, they, were the neighbors we depended on.Whenever I need a quick trip home, Iread my Bush pilot stories and Dana Stabenow.

A great book by Mr. Greiner about one of Alaska's best bushpilots of the modern era. Don Shelton was one of a kind, and a nice person also. A great read.
