A romance between a British officer and a beautiful Italian cook.  Cleverly written with a bit of tongue in cheek humor.  It reminded me of the humor from the TV show MASH.  It is a quick read with an under tone of wit.  Highly recommended.  After this book, I recommend these authors for stories about World War 2 - more serious novels:  Margaret Mayhew, William Jarvis, Judith Lennox, Duncan Barrett, Helen Forrester, and Laurie Graham.  This book deserves an A+++
