What a great book! This book focuses on the rise to fame of the Beatles - one of the greatest bands in history. The book takes us from their teenaged years to their rise to fame and appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. The book is very well researched and a very interesting read.

Larry Kane is a very skilled author. In When They Were Boys, Kane details what life was like for the Fab Four before fame struck and then when it came rushing in. The research alone is worth reading, but the story also benefits from Kane's skill as a wordsmith.

A great read for behind the scenes of the Beatles in their  early years. It gives you a little run down as they get started in the business.

Larry Kane brings out the story of Pete Best, the fifth beatle, with better insight than other writers have.
