Reviewed by Lit Amri for Readers' Favorite The title itself is self-explanatory. Why Do Ghosts Wear Clothes? by M.E. Brines sheds light on this question by employing logic and cautious experimental evidence. Brines also elucidates the difference between magical thinking –- a method employed by the western world until the scientific revolution in the 17th century, yet still widely used in most of the Third World countries -- and scientific methods. As a member of the Society for Psychical Research, he also had the opportunity to conduct a detailed re-examination of the three-year study of Leonora Piper, a medium in the 19th century. I am amused and intrigued with the deep questioning on the matter. It is a valid question –- and a familiar one –- although I never really thought of why ghosts are clothed in the first place. For me, like many people, ghosts will always be clothed according to the era or the manner of their death. Brines questions, “If appearance is up to the ghost, why would they choose to wear the same outfit they died in for eternity?”  The prose is readable; M.E. Brines is very detailed and precise with all the subjects that he included in Why Do Ghosts Wear Clothes? This is a thought-provoking and commendably bold analysis. Even though it is geared towards paranormal investigators and enthusiasts of the subject, other readers need not shy away from this interesting and provocative material. Whether you agree with his ideas or not, that is a different matter.
