This is the Best quilting book for the beginner! I checked a lot of quilting books before a friend gave me this one and it is Great! Finally, a good explaination (with pictures) of 'bias'! I highly recommend this book!

A few months ago, when I was developing an urge to learn to quilt, I was wandering through a book store and came across this little book. I skimmed through it and took a chance ..best little book I've found on quilting. Carol is able to 'explain' (for what must be the 10,000 time), the Dick and Jane version of how to create this fabric art, with a strong feeling of joy in the process. It's all there, clearly, with pictures for those of the visual persuasion. No experience is needed, just the interest and willingness to take the first step in learning with a gentle friend. Gave 5 stars, that's all there are!

This book has so much information presented in a easy to read format. It gives instructions for both machine and hand sewing your quilts. It does not go in to too many topics to be overwhelming. It sticks with the basics. Does not touch on too many of the newer tools in quilting, but does a great job of teaching the basics.

Reading and using this book only I went from non-quilter to finishing my first quilt and now working on a throw. My choice is to sew by hand as I find it a great relaxer. I do want to try one on a machine. Every "how-to" book should be as precise, well-written and.......useful!

This book is well written with pictures for steps that might seem confusing. The author even includes comments with humor. I have read so many books on the subject of quilting with no little or no understanding of the subject. Can't wait to read other books written by the same author.

I just started quilting about a month ago. I went to my local fabric store and this book was recommended. I sat down and read the book, I couldn't put it down. It was so easy to follow. The author really simplified a lot of techniques. If you're a beginner, this book needs to be in your library.

I have had this book for 14 years.  I am now teaching a beginners class at my church and all my students have the book now.  Best reference book for quilting.
