In the world of Hjorvard, a Mage bent on revenge trains an apprentice in the ways of magic and battle, turning Hagen into the perfect weapon in his plan to challenge those who sentenced him to a millenium of exile. To further aid him, he rescues from dire punishment the rebellious Mage Rakoth, but a spell Rakoth casts in despair when doom seems inevitable unleashes an unstoppable evil just when Hedin's battle with the Mages of his Generation and the Young Gods begins.
