About the Author

Andrew Vietze is a freelance writer based in Appleton, Maine. The former managing editor of Down East magazine, he’s written for a wide array of publications from Time Out New York to Maine Times, from AMC Outdoors to Offshore to Hooked on the Outdoors. He’s also a registered Maine Guide and a seasonal ranger in Baxter State Park. The story of his transition from editor to ranger is included in Get Satisfied: How Twenty People Like You Found the Satisfaction of Enough (Easton Studio Press, 2007). In 2008, he won an International Regional Magazine Association award for his historical writing. He’s currently finishing a thriller set in the North Woods during the lumbering era.
