About the Author

Tammi Sauer is the author of the bestselling Chicken Dance and Cowboy Camp (both Sterling). She is an active blogger (tammisauer.com) and highly involved in the children's writer community, in addition to being a great promoter of her own books. Tammi has worked as a teacher and library media specialist and now lives in Oklahoma with her husband and their two children.

Award-winning illustrator Dan Santat is a children's book artist, writer, and creator of the Disney animated film The Replacements. His books include Chicken Dance (Sterling) and The Guild of Geniuses (Arthur A Levine Books, 2004), which was a Society of Illustrators Original Art Show Selection and won the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators Bronze Medal for Book Illustration. Dan lives in southern California with his wife and son.

Picking up where Chicken Dance (2009) left off, this sequel finds talented hens Marge and Lola heading out on tour as backup singers for their idol, Elvis Poultry. Stage fright proves to be an ongoing problem—“The chickens trembled. They fanned their wattles. They... fainted”—but they conquer it with a little help from their friends. Santat is clearly having a blast with the material: his spreads are packed with jokes and asides, his Elvis impersonation is spot-on, and Marge and Lola are a comedic vision in their Vegas showgirl�style costumes. The further adventures of Elvis Poultry, rooster rock star (Chicken Dance, 2009). Marge and Lola, Elvis Poultry's backup Chicken Dancers, wave goodbye to their barnyard buddies from a window of their tour bus. McDoodle's Barnyard is the first stop on their glamorous multi-farm tour. But the crowd is so big and unfamiliar that the hens faint from nerves. They resolve to do better at their next performance venue, but… Elvis parachutes to the stage, making a spectacular soft landing, followed by the thud of Lola and Marge. What to do? They try painting, hypnosis, meditation... but nothing seems to work. Then it hits them: In order to solve their problem, they actually cross the road (to a mailbox)!
