How do you determine your book quotes?
A price quote is based on future demand for the book and current stock availability.
Will you accept books in any condition?
Unfortunately, no. We purchase books in order to resell them as Used textbooks. Therefore, they must be in good condition. That means no mildew stains, missing pages, or lots of underlined text. Books that we determine to be in unsatisfactory condition will be destroyed, and you will not receive payment for that book. If you are not sure whether or not your book is acceptable, simply ask yourself if you would purchase it in its present condition.
Must I have the original CD that came with my textbook?
We prefer that all textbooks originally accompanied by software are sent back to us with that software, but it's not essential. Our system should indicate different prices for books with and without software.
What is an ISBN number?
An ISBN is usually located on the back of a book. It looks like this:
Where do I find a book's ISBN number?
An ISBN is an International Standard Book Number. Every book sold anywhere in the world should have a unique ISBN, meaning you can find any book in the world simply with that one number.
Do I have to pay for shipping?
No! We've gone ahead and paid for your shipping. From the pop-up window on the receipt screen, print and cut out the US Mail label and affix it to the package containing your books. Then just drop your package off at your nearest post office box.
Can I use a shipping method other than the pre-paid US Mail label?
Yes, you may send books to us using different shipping methods. However, please note that Barnes & Noble.com will not be responsible (financially or physically) for any such shipments.
What paper work do I need to include in my package?
Please include a copy of your confirmation email inside the package of books you are selling. If you need to ship in multiple boxes make sure to include a copy of the email in each box.
When will I receive my check?
Checks normally arrive within 2-3 weeks from the time we receive your package.
What is the relationship between the Online Buyback Center and Barnes & Noble.com?
The Online Buyback Center manages the Sell and Buyback programs for Barnes & Noble.com. The Center also handles all customer service issues related to these processes.
Can I use the Sell Your Used Textbook program process to return a book I purchased from Barnes & Noble.com?
No, the Sell Your Used Textbooks program is intended only for those books that you would like to sell back to us. You will only receive a check in the amount of the price quoted to you. If you are unsatisfied with a book and wish to return it, please consult the Barnes & Noble.com return policy.
