Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
New arrivals vie for space in the nursery. Adapted from the Caldecott Honor book 1 Is One (1956) for a board book edition, Tasha Tudor's simple text and naturalistic watercolors alternate with b&w drawings to put the focus on counting.

Be aware the abridged board book version only counts up to 10, not 20!

This is a beautiful book that is best bought in the unabridged hardcover version, rather than the shortened board book format. The hardcover version counts from 1-20, whereas the board book version ends at 10.
