In 2004, when Nightline co-anchor Harris filled in on Good Morning America, he suddenly suffered a debilitating panic attack during the live broadcast. That event was the culmination of years spent overextending himself personally, with recreational drug experimentation, and professionally, working for various news outlets across the country as well as stints in war-torn Iraq. Meet the Author

Dan Harris is the coanchor of Nightline and the weekend editions of Good Morning America. He regularly reports for 20/20, World News with Diane Sawyer, and the weekday editions of Good Morning America. Before joining ABC News fourteen years ago, he worked for local news outlets in Boston and Maine. He lives with his wife, Bianca, in New York City. This is his first book.

I've become a huge fan of Dan over the past few years, and especially since watching him anchor weekend GMA. I bought the book immediately when I heard about it. Sure, I'm biased. But, I love the conversational approach of the book. It's reality, describes a personal journey, and shares a thought provoking, yet inspiring look at how to get out of your own way and finally deal with your inner voice in a positive and productive manner. Great book. Must read. I'd also like to recommend "When God Stopped Keeping Score." Finally, here are two books that will inspire you to change your life for the better.

I ordered this book the first week it was released and when I received it, I couldn't put it down. I bought the book first because the description indicated that he had had a panic attack on air on ABC; I have panic attacks so I wanted to see what he had to say about them. Secondly, I bought the book to read what he had to say about meditation. A BONUS at the end of the book is a summary that helps you learn to meditate. I enjoyed the style of writing and found this to be an enjoyable and easy read.

This is not your average 'self help' book. I was 10% happier just reading it. Harris has a story to tell and he's honest and funny in the telling. It's a very good read. Even if you don't go so far as to meditate, you will love the book. Me? Yes, I've tried the five minutes and, yes, my head feels better for it. This one's a keeper.

We know Dan Harris as the anchor on Nightline but what do we really know about him. Here in his book 10% Happier , Harris lets us inside his world as he embarks on an odyssey through the worlds of spirituality and self-help. It is a positive, uplifting book.

Unhappiness comes from the conditioning of the mind. This story speaks to the common man so one can easily identify with his plight before he discovered the ability to learn to control the mind--even with only 10% more--it is more than the most of us accomplish in a lifetime. Meditation is a powerful, positive, free, natural high that this author shares as we decides to take battle with the mind and its seductive, negative pull. I identify with the author because I have come to a similar place, and I have shared similar feelings about others who attest to knowing about the power inside. We are magnets and the way we feel especially the happiness we create gives attention only to what we want. I especially liked it because it affirms more of what I already know to be true. I loved this book! Dan is a very good writer, easy prose, down to earth. The honesty in this book is impressive and I'm jealous of his dedication to meditation, mindfulness, etc. I wish him well at GMA and Nightline - looking forward to more from him! A really nice guy.

I appreciate his style and the insights from his climb to current position.  If you are familiar with Dan Harris, you can even hear him narrating the content as you read it.  I like him.  I wish he hadn't had some of the experiences he'd had ("self medicating," for one), but the journey is what it is and is what makes him the man and journalist he is today.   Excellent read!

Longtime fan of ABC News especially Dan Harris reports. He always brings a balanced humanistic side to his reporting and anchoring. I expect all his television journalistic skills to translate over to his book.

I tried my best at meditating a few months ago but always felt maybe i was doing it wrong. After reading Dan Harris I now know there is no wrong way. This book is written sonwell i am rereading it right now

I am only half way through this book and cant wait to read the rest. I bought this book because I am struggling with perfectionism and self loathing. I love the honesty that Dan brings, and love the ideas he presents. I recommend to anyone who struggles with similar issues.

Like Mr Harris I was struggling with some of the spiritual jargon that is used by the different "spiritual" experts. I learned from Harris to question does not mean the worth of a practice is less than. Find the answer that is the best fit for you. I pksn to reread his book.

Hard to put down once I started reading it. Very funny and very true with all the things that we experience in our every day lives. I can really relate to the book. I love it and enjoyed it from beginning to end. I bought extra books as a gift to my friends and family.

I don't write a review too often, but this book was outstanding. A very personal memoir, very real, and full of very real--and useful advice and techniques. The title indicates the very down-to-earth answers and questions contained therein; it won't "revolutionize!" your life in 10 days--but it contains solid ideas and experiences that really are a help. Maybe even 11%. That's five stars in my book.

This is the most down-to-earth, easily understood explanation of meditation and its benefits that I've ever read. Harris tells his own story of growth from an ego-driven skeptic to devoted practitioner of meditation, which made his insights easier to understand and my own doubts about practice easier to overcome.  Harris's search for balance is told like like a kind of detective novel, with Harris as the detective and each new revelation another clue to unlocking the  mystery that is his mind. I think reading about Harris's mis-steps along his path can help hasten anyone's journey toward quieting the cacophony of their own mind.

10% Happier Review and Opinions: 10% Happier caught my attention right from the first page. Harris' has an open and candid way of writing that makes you feel like you are talking to a close friend. He doesn't come across preachy, pushing ways to improve your life. By sharing the details on his worse moment, you learn how he was able to step back and take the time and effort needed to fix what was broken within himself. Thanks to the writing style of Harris, you find yourself examining your own life through out the book, wondering if the tips he shares will help you quiet the voice inside your head. I enjoyed how honest Dan is with his lowest of lows and highest of highs. 10% Happier has humor and honesty that you don't often find in a self-help novel. A great read to help you examine your life and encourage self meditation.

This book is a wonderful read for any adult. Dan Harris has a considerably dry sense of humor that flows all through the book. He looks at various forms of meditation over twelve years or so and relates the reasons he does so. What an interesting and crazy life he has led! It is definitely worth your time to read it.

This book was written with wit, humor, honesty and understanding that life is complicated and we are searching for something more. Mr. Harris' description of his meditation practice validated my own practice and helped me recommit to mine. His stories were valuable and honest - showing us a side of a man I wouldn't have expected, but incredibly relieved to read as well. I highly recommend this read for anyone who is on the fence about meditation, the benefits of a practice or honestly, anyone who might benefit from listening to how an individual overcomes challenges! Great read!
