Meet the Author

Goldie Hawn is the founder of the Hawn Foundation as well as an international children's advocate and enthusiastic campaigner for the mindful celebration of life. An Academy Award-winning actress, producer, and director, she is also a mother and grandmother. Her bestselling autobiography, A Lotus Grows in the Mud, was published in 2005.
Wendy Holden is a journalist and author of more than twenty-five books, including the novel The Sense of Paper, published in 2006. She was also the cowriter of Goldie Hawn's memoir, A Lotus Grows in the Mud.

I'm a grandmother; no children at home. Recently saw Goldie Hawn on the Dr. Oz show discussing her book and really wanted to read it even though it is directed toward parenting. My childhood was based on "old school" upbringing; some bad, some good. I found the book to be well researched and documented and am now reading it a second time. The suggestions offered by Ms. Hawn caused me to be reflective of my own life, past and present -- VERY helpful in moving forward, even at this late age. I highly recommend this book to any gender, any age, who would like to better their lifestyle and become a happier, more content individual. What better example than Goldie herself?

This book is very commendable for it instills a lot of lessons for us adults in our day to day life. I started reading it and instantly loved it which explains why my wife is reading it now because of the life-changing results that it will contribute to your relationship with your children.

After hearing Goldie speak on talk shows over the years, I was always impressed by her healthy attitude about life and living. As soon as I heard about this book I jumped on Amazon to order. I can't say it better than the other reviews so far. Natural joy is something so worth working on and if we can help our children come about this in their every day living by getting used to a few methods then nothing can be more important. It is clear that happiness is disappearing in the United States, maybe, in my opinion, we've grown too used to being a bit spoiled and feeling entitled. "Positive psychology", better than focusing on negative aspects, has to be more beneficial to all and training the young from the get-go can't be a better way to form a healthy, happy human being. Optimism, yes! How would you prefer to live, positive or negative? Goldie is a "Gold Mine" in her being.

This is a wonderful, very easy read that helps explain how our thoughts and brain are related that has been proven and implemented in schools. I highly recommend this book for all.

A wonderful and helpful book. Very well written and an easy read which makes it easy to convey the information to children in terms they understand. I would highly recommend this book to everyone (parents, grandparents, teachers etc...) with children in today's stressful society.

This book gives you the background to gain mindfulness in your and your children's lives. It provides step by step features as to how it can be obtained. Goldie Hawn may be remembered as the ditzy blonde in movies but she is one intelligent lady who wants the best for her family and others. This is a very insightful read.
