    E-Book doesn't include music!

The book is great. Just be aware that the e-book download does NOT include the music.

I am sure that this book is great for kids! I was really looking forward to it - but I think there was a glitch in the system because I never got it from Thomas Nelson book reviewers.

A great Bible story book for young children

The cover of this book just draws kids into its pages. The art on the cover is a fantastic example of the art throughout this book. It is happy and colorful. The songs are also just as bright and happy.

This children's Bible goes from Genesis through Revelation. Like most children's Bibles these stories are paraphrased and give just a brief overview of the story. A unique feature of this book is that it comes with 2 CD's with a simple children's song to go along with each story. The back cover says that your child will Read it! Sing It! And Learn It! This book gives parents the extra tool of music to reinforce a Biblical truth which is a neat feature.

It includes an extensive table of contents in the front of the book which includes the Story, Bible Verse, Bible Song and Page. It also separates the stories by Old Testament and New Testament. Each story is just two adjacent pages. The page on the right has the story and song title and the body of the story. The left hand page has the illustration, Bible verse paraphrase, and a truth your child can learn from the story.

    What your child will like

Your child will enjoy the bright illustrations and catchy songs that go along with each story. The stories are easy to understand and the truths are simple for very small children to grasp and put into practice. My boys loved singing the songs some of their favorites were "Only a Boy named David", "His Banner Over Me is Love", and "My God is So Big". My older son (age 4) liked that the stories are short so that we could read several in one sitting.

    What the parent will like

These stories and songs give the parent a short version of a story that they can explain to their child. It is often difficult to read a long story to a small child and then have them accurately understand a truth. I think as a parent you will find this book enables you to bring back these truth's to your child and they will remember the story and song. The songs are a big part of this book and I think it works well with a child's natural ability to remember and sing songs. Often it seems children will more easily remember a song than a story. As a parent you might enjoy the fact that most of the songs are very familiar classics. It is a joy to introduce these wonderful songs to our children.

    My conclusion

This book is beautifully illustrated and presents the Bible accurately. However the stories are very short so the focus of the story is very simplistic. This is good for the very young child, probably under the age of 4. Children older than 4 might find this book too simple for their growing minds. The truth that the book presents is a paraphrase as well. For me, I would like the truth to be an actual Scripture verse with the reference. The book does tell you what book of the Bible the story is from, but the truth presented is not always an actual Bible verse. As a parent you might want to incorporate an actual Bible verse with these stories if you are using them for a devotional time with your child.

I think the CD's can stand alone apart from the book. We have listened to the CD's more than once and the kids have enjoyed singing their favorite Sunday School songs at home. If you buy this book I think you will find the CD's worth the price. I know that some of my readers have fairly conservative views on music. If that is the case you might find some of the songs on the CD's

Should have read the reviews first

Yes the hard copy is nice the pictures are great, I have seen it many times at the store and almost bought it. It was out of my budget. Now I have it on my nook the pictures are small and will not attract my students. Also there is no music, only a link to a website with free lyrics. That won't help me much.

Good book for little learners and bigger rememberers

Great book for teaching the basic stories and lessons of the Bible. Has a song for each story. All of the major stories of the Bible are included (Creation, Moses, Noah, David, the Prodigal Son, Jesus, etc.) as well as some lesser known stories, miracles, and good things and good deeds (Balaam, serving others, God's grace, the poor woman's offering, etc.). All around, it's a good book for little learners and bigger rememberers. The songs are sung by a children's choir and easy to remember and definitely make the stories stick. My little niece had a great time with the music (too young to read yet, but definitely old enough to understand).

    A Great First Bible Storybook

Great for children seven months up to 6 years of age. At seven months it's a great book to look at the colorful illustrations and make sounds that go along with the animals, weather, people, etc. A good book for beginning readers. Stories are concise and interesting. The message comes through successfully. A song goes along with each story. Another great way for a child to remember the lesson taught and story. The physical book is durable, too! A child may help turn the pages without too much fear of destruction.

Kids will love it! 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs by Stephen Elkins

100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs by Stephen Elkin is a beautiful Bible story book that contains stories from the Bible for kids ages 4-8. It has really nice illustrations and comes with CD's that have songs that kids will love. (Songs that go along with stories from the Bible.)
This book took me back to when I was a kid. As I read the book and listened to the CD, it brought back such great memories. I would have loved to have something like this when I was little. The illustrations are beautiful, the book is a good size, and the CD that goes along with it makes learning about the Bible fun! I think the combination of music and words and pictures will go a long way with a kid. It will help them remember Bible stories and learn more about God. I'd recommend this to anyone who has kids between the ages of 4-8...I really think they'd enjoy it. They could listen to the music on their own while flipping through the pages, or the mom/dad could read to them or with them and do a song later. It's a great combo!
Something kids will be able to treasure for years to come...

100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs by Stephen Elkins, Illustrations by Tim O'Connor

The book, with it's padded cover and delightful illustration on the cover, was immediately inviting. It encouraged you to open it and discover the treasures that lay within. Once opened it did not disappoint. There were well known Sunday school stories within, told in language that could be easily understood by children. The stories are pared with wonderful songs sung by the St Johns Children's Choir.

This will be a delightful gift for an expectant parent. Although the target audience is a child, it is for a child who may not yet be able to read. The parent will have to read it to them. Why not start reading this book while the child is in utero and get familiar with the songs so that when the child is born the parent can interact with the infant more naturally around the stories and sounds. This gift promotes interaction with a parent or grandparent through the act of reading and singing, which we know is very beneficial to children. It also lays a foundation of faith for the child that can be later built upon by the family.

The only criticism is that a song sheet with the words of the songs would have been a nice addition. However don't let this stop you, with repeated listening you will soon be humming the tunes and singing the songs under your breathe.

    Simple enough

It has been said that the Bible is so deep that the world's greatest theologians are puzzled, yet so simple that even a child can understand it. "100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs" for children proves it. This is a fantastic resource for parents, providing a solid yet simple story base with complementary choruses to aid learning both scripture and the reference. I'd say that this book is suitable for age 2 - 7.

The pictures are beautifully yet simply illustrated by Tim O'Connor which helps in the telling of the story. This is definitely a book that will be treasured for years to come. The songs on the accompanying cd's are simple, yet lively. They are perfect for reading with the book or even to listen to during the day. The book is divided into the Old and New Testament and each story has the accompanying scripture tagged on. I have found this useful for my own time with God.

I love that my son, who is only 2 years old, is already trying to sing with the cd's. He is being trained up in the way he should go with this fabulous book.

100 Bible Stories; 100 Bible songs

100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs created by Stephen Elkins and illustrated by Tim O'Connor is an excellent devotional book for kids. Each story has a song that goes along with or compliments the story. I think this is an excellent idea. When I first got this book and cd's, I thought they were just 100 stories and 100 songs. But each story lists the song that goes along with it. Songs are a great teaching tool and helps us all remember things. By listening to the songs that go along with the Bible story, I think that hearing the song again will bring back the memory the story from the Bible as well.

Another feature of this devotional book that I love, is that it lists the references from the Bible where each story is from. It also gives a sentence of the theme of the story, and one to recap how that theme was shown in the story. There is also a personal application at the end.

Each story can be read independently and are a great length to hold the attention of children of any age. But they also are great if you read them several at a time. They follow along and read like a story.

The Bible stories that they have are common Bible stories as well as some that I have not found in any other devotional book for children. They go from Genesis through Revelation covering many stories. If you have young children and a desire to raise them to learn and love God's word, this is a good tool to have. I highly recommend this book.

    Wonderful

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). When raising children to follow God, teachers and parents are willing to try all sorts of things to get the message across. As a teacher, I understand how hard it is to reach children and I have learned that music and stories work great. Now, Sunday school teachers have a book with stories, pictures, and songs to help them, 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs.
In this book are the major stories of the Bible, told in simple language and very short story format. The illustrations are colorful and beautiful, eye catching enough to prompt the most daydreamy kid to focus in to the book. Connected to each story is a song, located on CD's provided with the book.
I reviewed this learning kit and was carried away by it. The stories are told in words that connect with children, easy enough to understand and entertain. While adults might think the tales too short, my own research tells me small kids tend to get bored if the story gets much longer.
Another wonderful part of the book is the fact that the main idea is clearly stated on the corresponding page, easy for the teacher to review. While kids are enjoying the story they might not be concentrating on the message, after all, they're kids. The main idea prompt is a great way to give them a one sentence reminder. Also, there is a first person statement the kids can listen to or read themselves. The statements would also work great as prayer guides for leading the kids' group or individual prayer.
The songs are adorable. Sung by a children's choir, the 100 songs that accompany the text are the ones learned in church for years. There are all the old classics and some great new ones as well. The whole song is not sung, only a few verses to enforce the tale but not lose the child's interest.
I review lots of books, but this one I took a step further. I actually gave it to my mom to use in her Sunday School class. She has a interesting group of kids who always need new stuff to keep them entertained. I think this book and CD set will do the trick.

Wonderful Bible story book for young children!

If you have young children toddlers through primary aged, I would like to recommend a wonderful Bible story book for you. It is called 100 Bible Stories 100 Songs. This illustrated storybook is perfect for Bible story time before bed or for the early readers to read themselves.
The book has 100 Bible stories told in a concise, easy-to-read format. The story is on one page along with the title of the song, and on the facing page is a picture with three application sentences related to the story. The illustrations are colorful and appealing. The two CD's have 100 songs that correlate with the 100 Bible stories. You'll hear many old favorites like "Be Careful Little Eyes" and "The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock" as well as hymns like "Amazing Grace" and many other songs I'd not previously heard.
I was excited to receive this before we left on our recent trip. It was perfect to take along in the car. I'd read a few stories to my son and then he'd listen to the CD. My son totally loved both the stories and the songs. This is a wonderful resource to help children hide God's Word in their hearts.

Loved the stories, didn't like the songs on the CD

I loved reading 100 Bible Stories. The pictures were really cute and colorful and the stories were short. Even though I'm seven, and this is recommended for younger kids, I think kids as young as one, and up to my age would enjoy it. I didn't like the CD though. The music was very babyish and I had to turn it off after only a couple of songs. I was expecting a short song and then a read along story, but was disappointed. Also, each story tells where the bible story is located so I can read the story in my Bible if I want to know more.

I would recommend this book for ages three to four, but older and younger brothers and sisters will probably want to read it too.

"100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs" by Stephen Elkins

"100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs" by Stephen Elkins is an interactive children's biblical book. As the title suggests, there are 100 stories accompanied by 100 songs. The stories themselves consist of about a paragraph each. Also included is a short sentence or two synopsis, or adage, about the story. Then, there is a sentence at the bottom written in the first person narration for the reader to follow based on the moral of each story. The stories have songs that go with each one. These songs are named on the top of each story, as is a verse from the song.

Clearly labeled both in the table of contents and on each page, it is not hard to find corresponding songs for the stories. In fact, both of the CDs included have numbers and song titles printed onto them. Little ones will have no problem finding the songs for the stories. Vivid pictures depict each story and are fantastic. The seriousness of the stories is contained, and there are also fun little animals scurrying around in the background of some. This book is a great deal and fabulous for little readers; it will hold attention, teach biblical stories, and keep youngsters humming along to worship melodies.

    I Also Recommend:

Perfect for bedtime or in the morning.

I like this book. A lot, actually. There are so many collections of children's Bible stories and songs out there. Before I became a mom, I remembered only a small handful of songs. So, I had a lot to learn! This book is a collection of 100 Bible stories from throughout the bible and 100 songs to go with them. There are several unusual stories included that I haven't found in other children's Bible Storybooks. The songs are surprisingly very appropriate!

What I love most about this book is that the stories point towards God-not towards Man. Someone once said to me that the Bible is supposed to point us towards God, not Man. So, not all of the details of every story are included-and there's a reason for that.
I can see that in this book. When the author retells the story of Samson, which is surprising to me, he notes that Samson was strong when he obeyed God, but he wasn't strong when he disobeyed. He doesn't mention Delilah or his temptations. The details the author included were very appropriate and written well for a 3-5 year old.

The book comes with 2 CDs that my kids love listening to any time and the book is very good. If you are looking for a Bible story book to read to your own children who are in preschool, I think you would really enjoy this book. Or if you are looking for a gift, this would be a great choice.

I do want to note-that when I first opened up this book, it did seem to me to be just like the other Bible storybooks on my shelf and not to be anything special. It was as I sat down and began reading that I realized how the stories were written to point towards God and not man and that they were written in language with appropriate details that young children will easily understand. The songs bring home the message of the stories and will help your children connect with the stories as you talk with them about them.

    This book is a keeper!

    Great Book!

Once again am I impressed with the work of Stephen Elkins. If you know anything about this author, you know he is the author of many other loved christian children book such as one of my favorite titles, LullaBible A to Z Promise Book: Baby's First Bible Promises. I've owned this promise book for a few months and enjoy reading it to my daughter and listening to the accompanying cd.

"100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs" is one of Stephens latest works. This book is geared preschoolers, though my 12 month daughter really enjoys listening/dancing along to the two accompanying hymn & filled cd's that go along with the stories, as well as looking at the beautifully illustrated pages along side of me.I look forward to the days when my daughter will take to heart these easy to comprehend renditions of well know Bible stories with their simple to understand life applications.

"100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs" I highly recommended for families, churches, and libraries of all kinds.

    Great Bible Storybook!

As Bill and I raised our children it was always very important that we shared God's Word with them! Although we had some things to help them understand, and to help instill these values and beliefs into their lives at a young age....we didn't have near the options that parents do today! I'm so thankful that my kids who are parents have a variety of products to choose from. Whether it be books, CDs, DVDs, or something else. As a Grandparent I think it's equally important that I make sure and have opportunities available to help my Grandchildren learn more about the Lord. That's why I was absolutely thrilled to have the chance to review a copy of 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs from Thomas Nelson Publishers!!

Just in reading a short summary of this Bible Storybook...I knew that it would be a perfect addition to the other things I have for my Grandchildren. When I got it I must say the book far exceeded my expectations!! Not only did it offer the Bible stories I had hoped for....but the quality and kid-friendliness of it was amazing! I knew it would be great, but had no idea it would be this wonderful! Along with 100 Bible Stories, written in a way that kids will understand, there are also two CD's which include 100 Bible Songs that correlate with the stories! How great is that?! My Grandkids love to be read to, and they love music....this is the perfect thing for my household!

I liked many things about 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs....but the best part about it was the kid-friendly way it introduces children to the Bible. It's done in a very meaningful way that allows for understanding and life application. Along with a short story, there is a one-sentence summary as well as the name of the song that goes along with it. The illustrations are beautiful and would catch any young child's eye! I am very excited to use this with my Grandchildren! They are only one....and although the publisher suggests for it to be used with children ages 4-8...I think it's perfect for young toddlers as well! If you're wanting to check it out, don't hesitate!

100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs Review

It's very important to my husband and I that we share the joy and wonder of the Lord and His Word with our children. Our daughter Kaelyn is 19 months old and although young, has already been exposed to a number of things to help shape her understanding of God. Whether it be the music she listens to, the television shows she watches or the things we talk about...we are always doing our best to instill in her these values and beliefs. Her favorite book is actually her Bible, or "bibi" in her words. Even at such a young age she enjoys learning and hearing the stories of the Bible.

That's why I was SO excited to have had the opportunity to receive a copy of 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs from Thomas Nelson Publishers to review! I knew that as much as she loves her Bible.she'd this and all it has to offer....and I was right! It includes 100 Bible Stories that are introduced in a kid-friendly way as well as two CD's filled with 100 Bible Songs...all of which are very catchy!

What I think is so great about 100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs is the way it was made. I appreciate having a kid-friendly way to introduce our children to the Bible in a way that's meaningful to them. I really liked the way it was laid out. Each story references the chapter and verses from the Bible, and has a one-sentence summary from the passage as well as an application statement. What a wonderful way to introduce your little one to scripture and application! I really look forward to spending many hours with our daughter, reading these stories and singing the songs together. Kaelyn especially loved the colorful illustrations that went along with each story! Although the publishers recommend this Bible Storybook for preschool age children, I think it was great even for my one year old! She enjoys every minute of reading the stories and listening to the songs and it's never too early to share the Word of God with your children!

100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs

Stephen Elkins is the author of numerous titles such as "The First Step Series: First Steps in Prayer, Beginning Lessons of God's Love" and the 3rd largest producer of kids' music world wide. He has won copious awards. This soft padded covered hardback book is wonderfully illustrated by Tim O'Connor whose charming drawings adorn the pages in vivacity and cheeriness.

"100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs" is geared for preschool aged children and contains 2 CDs filled with 100 songs, hymns and spirituals. Also, there are 100 Bible stories with truths and life applications. Each story references the chapter and verses as well. I look forwards to spending many wonderful hours with my own toddler reading this book and singing songs.

The songs are fun to sing and bring back memories from my own childhood. There are so many, that I cannot pick just one favorite. The only downside, or blooper, is that the soundtrack lists the song titles incorrectly. "Who Built the Ark?" is listed on the CD as "Come Bless Me Lord" and this error continues on disk 2. I forgive the soundtrack error and still think this is a wonderful product to have and share. If coloring sheets were available for each lesson and the CD's errors were corrected, I would rate this product 5 stars.
