Children's LiteratureThis stimulating workbook will keep a child's attention. With activities and games the child will learn while having fun. The eight sections in the book are: "Number Sense & Place Value," "Addition & Subtraction," "Multiplication & Division," "Fractions," "Measurement," "Geometry," "Time & Money," and "Organizing Data." Each of these sections has three parts: activities, a game to practice skills and the answer key. A child learns about ordinal numbers by determining the order in which critters complete a race. Arrays are used to help in learning multiplication. The "Tricky Kids" have the child solve problems presented and try to figure out which kid is asking a trick question. Using a ruler, a child measures a tube of wart paste, a creepy bug and a magic mirror. There is even a scavenger hunt to find items of particular lengths, weights or temperatures. Reusable stickers contained in the workbook can be used to create problems. Parent tips at the beginning are excellent suggestions for using the book. It would be great for school use or for at home enrichment. This is part of the "Scholastic 100 Math Activities" series. 2004, Scholastic, Ages 6 to 8.
