More About This Textbook

Overview

In 1978, when Michael Hart's controversial book The 100 was first published, critics objected that Hart had the nerve not only to select who he thought were the most influential people in history, but also to rank them according to their importance.

Needless to say, the critics were wrong, and to date over 60,000 copies of the book have been sold. Hart believed that in the intervening years the influence of some of his original selections had grown or lessened and that new names loomed large on the world stage. Thus, the publications of this revised and updated edition of The 100.

One of the Greatest Books ever published

For a non-muslim (who do not beleive in the message of prophet Muhammad) to rank Prophet Muhammad as number one contributor and transformer of humanity in the shortest period of time, the message has to be a genuine one.

The only history book you'll need

Outstanding, concise descriptions of the most influential people and their accomplishments. Organized well, very informative. Will lead to many intellectual debates and conversations.

My copy is getting worn out!!

I have been reading this book off and on since 1982. I understand the criteria and based on this alone I can agree nearly with all placements. Have often wondered about the 2nd 100 and the honorable mentions and the interesting misses. Naturally, we would all rank some of these people differently. I do appreciate someone who can rank and dispassionately give a formula by which one can follow -- cudos to M. Hart for staying focused and on task. One final note--number 3 troubles me. I would not have been as able to remain aloof to my feelings regarding this One, as M. Hart. I'm afraid I would have still placed Him first. A very enjoyable read and a source of much conversation with family and friends. A treasured friend who is much dog-eared.

    I'M NO SCHOLAR, BUT...........

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING BOOKS THAT I HAVE EVER READ! MY INTEREST IN HISTORY WAS HIGH WHEN I SAW THIS BOOK ON THE SHELF AT MY LOCAL BOOKSTORE. AFTER READING ONLY A FEW PAGES I FOUND THAT I WAS UNABLE TO PUT IT DOWN. M. HART HAS MADE ME UNDERSTAND HOW INFLUENCE ON HISTORY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE HISTORY ITSELF! WHO'S THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN HISTORY? YOU'LL HAVE TO READ THE BOOK, BUT YOU WONT BE BORED.
