Barnes & Noble - Andrew Farach-Colton
Johann Strauss II died in 1899. Violinist and conductor André Rieu celebrates a century of the Waltz King's glorious music with this album, adding a few delightful works by other members of the Strauss family for good measure. Rieu's affectionate performances bring out the music's melodic sweetness, while the reverberant acoustic creates the ambiance of a grand ballroom. In addition to great waltzes like "The Blue Danube," "Vienna Blood," and "Tales from the Vienna Woods," Rieu and his suave-sounding band play an instrumental arrangement of the gorgeous "Nun's Chorus" from the operetta "Casanova" and a rousing Spanish March, complete with clattering castanets. ...

"Not only does the music of Johann Strauss have the power to make people come alive," Rieu writes, "it is alive itself and probably always will be. Immortal music, in the truest sense of the words!" On 100 YEARS OF STRAUSS, this heartfelt sentiment speaks louder than words, proving that these waltzes are as fresh today as when they were composed more than a century ago.
All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Contemporary waltz maestro Andre Rieu returns with 100 Years Of Strauss, a tribute to Johann Strauss' body of work. Rieu captures the infectious nature of the waltz on "Perpetuum Mobile," "Cachucha Galopp," and "Spanish March," and the album culminates with a showy interpretation of "The Blue Danube." Sure to please Rieu's many fans, 100 Years Of Strauss continues his tradition as well as those of the Viennese waltz.

    Another fabulous music experience

Like all the previous CD's and cassettes I've got, it is beautiful. He puts joy into all of his music.

    Entertainer of the year

I have been a fan from the first time I saw him on T.V. and have several of his recordings and Two vidio's. His music is so enjoyable and such a delight to watch.
