Meet the Author

Lawrence Newman is the President of Silver Millennium Publications, Inc. and author of numerous books, including three about his favorite subject—the Apostle Islands, an archipelago of twenty two islands located off Wisconsin’s northern shore in western Lake Superior, home of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, deemed the most pristine national park in the United States. He has also written books on other subjects, including quote compilations. Over the years he took up the habit of collecting quotes that he found inspiring, humorous, informative, and historically enlightening. Many of these quotes are contained within the several quote compilations he has published. He doesn't always agree with the quotes but didn’t feel his own feelings should be the basis for exclusion of thought provoking statements. In many cases his own comments about the quote are included, based on his understanding that developed over time, and sometimes to give the reader the historical context. In his previous life he was a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. before he retired in 2001, after eighteen years with that company.
