    Handy For Advanced Spanish

It seems as though the more Spanish students I meet, the more commonality I see in their stumbling blocks and mine. 1001 Pitfalls in Spanish does a fairly respectable job of addressing some of the most common traps in vocabulary, grammar, and usage. Just as in English, the Spanish language has exceptions to rules and hidden nuances that can be troublesome for those who attempt to speak it as a second language. It definitely cleared up some areas of confusion for me, but honestly, it seemed too narrow to justify the price. It makes for a decent reference tool, but don¿t include it if you¿re attempting to build the backbone of your Spanish reference library from scratch. It¿s more of a secondary reference tool, in my opinion. The other problem that I had with this book is that I just didn¿t find the style to be that engaging. Personally, I prefer more upbeat and interactive learning tools. My favorite ¿must have¿ Spanish learning tool is the Learning Spanish Like Crazy CDs which I listen to on the way to work as least a couple of times per week. I also recommend 501 Spanish Verbs for a great reference and learning tool for conjugating verbs.

    It saved my grade

This book has a list of Spanish prefixes that help me make sense of words and how the prefixes work. Things are easy to find because of the great index that makes things easy to find. At first, I thought that I had wasted my money, but it's one of the best buys that I've made. Thank you B&N for carrying this book.

    You should buy this one.

If you're taking Spanish in high school or college this will get you over some sticky spots. If you're teaching yourself this is indispensable. This is one book you'll find yourself going back to over and over again.
