That tight ball they roll into for sleeping. That great big old shake after a bath. Old Yeller, Lassie, and Rin Tin Tin. The things they do to make us wish we were one of them- napping after a morning walk, sleeping by the fire, rubbing their backs in the grass. And the things they do to make us glad we're not-carrying dirty socks in their mouths, finding something dead in the backyard, eating out of the garbage. From the feel of a newborn pup in your hand to your mutt's ecstatic greeting when you come home, these are just a few of the reasons why dogs are "man's best friend."

LIKED SO MUCH - GAVE ONE AWAY!

I received this book from some friends as a Christmas gift as they know how much I love dogs. I enjoy it so much... read it cover to cover when I received it and now pick it up all the time to read a page or two. I just ordered this one to give to my best friend who is also an avid dog lover. She was really excited to receive this gift!

    Great Dogs, Breeds and Companions

It is impossible to cover the many subjects contained in the marvelous '1001 REASONS TO LOVE DOGS.' There are 315 pages in this compact 7' X 7' book. How did they get so many eye riveting photos in this jam packed space? By truly magic this masterpiece was created in a seldom seen artful use of space. It is simply hypnotic turning pages loaded with masterfully told adventures, supported by striking photos, and pure facts. We must not forget there are stories about many of those humans who were prominent from the past, and present often combined with their faithful companions. There is facinating information on much of the great dogs in history. You may know some. Others will amaze you. Well written, '1001 REASONS TO LOVE DOGS' has color photos, many not seen before of War Dogs, Dog Heroes, Motion Picture Dogs, and those holding records. For example, the smallest dog ever, a Yorkie 2.5 X 3.5 inches weighed 4 oz. and lived to be nearly two years old. However this is more than an encyclopedia. Rather this is a delightful adventure of moments that take us from the turbulent universe in which we live, into that relaxing world that dogs easily provide. I know of a few dogs here that suffered tragic deaths, but these are not revealed as this book is obviously a celebration of life. It is said, 'it is not how we die that counts, but how we lived.' That saying of course goes without meaning if we do so saving lives of others. Then death becomes the greatest of glories. There are heroes here. Those of us who love our dogs are not surprised by exteme devotion. We know dogs are our gift from God.
