I was given this wonderful and incredibly practical book as a gift.  I have been teaching elementary, middle school and high school kids for over 34 years, and still I found it an extremely beneficial resource. As veterans we often need a refresher in making the best of our teaching practice. As folks new to teaching, Annette shares tips that are easy to follow and implement; this book does that and more. As a mentor to new teachers in my district  this is a great book to share for our get togethers, especially now as the winter and midyear is approaching.I loved that each tip was only 1-2 pages in length; with sweet and inspiring short poems. One of my favorites:Tip 101 (which is prefaced with this lovely poem: "I promise never to give up on you, no matter what you say or do For I am your teacher and teach you I willEven if you give up, I''ll believe in you still." It reminded me as the reader of the tremendous responsibility we have to our students; for as the author writes,  "If you inspire one student, you affect his entire future, and you literally change the world."  It's why a very special part of being a teacher is when a former student comes back to visit us and says, "Do you remember me? I've never forgotten you."

Bought this for my boyfriend who is a new teacher and he loved it. It was recommended by another teacher and his mentor had actually been talking to him about this book too.

101 'Answers'... has been my answer to a prayer! As a new teacher training and induction coordinator, I was searching for an appropriate resource for my new inductees this year. Harry Wong's First Days of School is a necessity for elementary teachers, but this book, in my opinion, caters better to upper level teachers. My demanding private school doesn't have so many disciplinary and procedural issues as other schools might, and this book fit our needs perfectly. The best part? Each 'tip' is short enough to be read and a minute or two- PERFECT for harried, busy, new teachers! And you can implement a new idea immediately. Believe it or not, I also contacted the author through her publisher with a comment, and she got right back to me THAT DAY! Where else can you get personal support like this? Buy this book! I did- and I bought a copy for all my new teachers as well!

Breaux's tips for new teachers and their mentors are practical and take a "common sense" approach! As a mentor, I don't know how I would have done without it. I gave it to the new teacher I was mentoring after she passed state assessment. She now keeps it with her at all times! Sometimes we read it together. It's like a crash course in all the right things to do! This book is definately a 'must have' for any new teacher or any mentor.
