Meet the Author

Susan Brooks-Young has been involved in the field of instructional
technology since 1979. She was one of the original technology users
in the district where she taught and has continued to explore ways in
which technology can be used to facilitate student learning. She has
worked as a computer mentor, technology trainer, and technology
curriculum specialist.
As a site administrator, Brooks-Young relied on technology developments to accomplish and expedite her work. In 1993, she founded Computer Using Educators’ (CUE) Administrators’ Special Interest Group, which still serves as a network and resource for school administrators across the country and in Canada. She has also served as co-chair for ISTE’s Special Interest Group for Administrators.

Before establishing her own consulting firm, Susan was a teacher, site administrator, and technology specialist at a county office of education in a career that spanned more than 23 years. She now spends her time working with school districts and regional centers on technology-related issues, developing curriculum, presenting workshops, teaching online courses, and writing articles for a variety of education journals.

She is the author of the popular books Making Technology Standards Work for You (ISTE, 2009) and Digital-Age Literacy for Teachers (ISTE, 2007).
