I was a little disapointed when I purchased this book. I thought it would include how to perform the exercises it suggests, such as half-pass, but all it did was tell which way to ride the exercises and gave an overall diagram. It was good if you only want specific exercises to do, but not if you do not already know how to ride certain movements. I would really rate it a 3.5 not a 3.

The exercises in this book are a great tool in assisting in at home lessons without the aid of a personal or professional trainer. The detailed diagrams for the exact movements are well done and accurate. However, I do not believe that this book alone will get you to Grand Prix competition. I have been using this book steadily since I purchased it a few weeks ago. Setting up the dressage arena, and cavalettis using the diagrams has been very helpful. I do, however, take professional instruction once a month and my trainer guides me in which exercises are appropriate for both me and my horse. If your horse is not ready, some of the exercises will be too difficult for your horse and either the horse or both of you could get hurt. Always use caution and know your horse.
