Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"A new book, just in time for Mother's Day, 101 Great Gifts from Kids: Fabulous Gifts Every Kid Can Make, shows children how to make personalized gifts. With just a little supervision and easy to find craft items kids can make Mom or Grandma great gifts including coasters, classy picture frames, terracotta music makers, and more. From the card to the wrapping paper and everything in between, this book has great ideas that make gift giving meaningful. This book is also perfect for creating Father's Day gifts and end-of-the-school-year teacher gifts. 101 Great Gifts from Kids: Fabulous Gifts Every Child Can Make by Stephanie Mueller and Ann Wheeler retails for $14.95 and is available at most bookstores. Visit Gryphon House Publishers at www.gryphonhouse.com." - Kids VT

"Craft ideas varying in difficulty from very simple to more difficult are divided under headings such as "Fun with Photos," "A Garden of Gifts," and "Office Originals." The introduction urges adults to provide the materials and methods, but to let the children "own" these projects. However, minimal adult help may be necessary for most of them. Lists of materials, step-by-step instructions, and occasional "seasonal suggestions" are provided for each activity. Simple line drawings show the steps involved and the finished project.” - School Library Journal

Children's Literature
Children want to give presents but are dependent on the adults in their lives to either take them shopping, which usually requires money, or they can make a present and hope that it turns out well enough to be appreciated by the recipient. The gift ideas found in this book are very clever and can be made with commonly found materials. I happen to live 65 miles from the nearest craft store and "the simpler the better" has become a motto in crafts. The reader will also learn to make several varieties of cards for all occasions and wrapping paper for the gifts they make. Items using photos, flowers, games, office items, household helps, and decorations to display are choices for gift making. I'm hoping my grandchildren will make me a card shaped from their own handprint very soon. 2002, Gryphon House,
