101 Monologues for Middle School Actors: Including Duologues and Triologues

Middle school performers are often reluctant to jump up in front of their peers and start performing. That's why having the perfect material for them is a must! Rebecca Young knows how middle schoolers think and act - and what they like to talk about! This book was written specifically for middle school performers - about topics they can relate to in a language style they understand. A wide variety of topics to fit any student's personality allows young actors to choose from either humorous or dramatic selections. The duologues and triologues should not be confused with scenes for two or three actors. Instead, they consist of a pair or trio of monologues on the same topic, but from different perspectives! These monologues, duologues, and triologues may be used for auditions, classroom assignments, or discussion starters. Many of the monologues are adaptable for guys or girls, making this book even more valuable as a resource!

About the Author

For many years, Rebecca Wright wrote and directed drama for middle school and high school students for her church. She co-founded a Christian acting group called One Voice. It was a dream of hers to combine writing, acting, and helping youth. Rebecca currently works in a totally "non-dramatic" profession as a Technical Writer. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Marketing from the University of Kentucky. (Don't tell the Wildcats, but she recently became a huge Ohio State University football fan! Go Buckeyes!) In 2013, she married Beau, the love of her life, and relocated to Cincinnati, OH. Though sad to leave behind her Kentucky roots, she loves biking and exploring the downtown Cincinnati area and the Little Miami Scenic Trail. She and her husband love traveling and recently became SCUBA certified which opened up a whole new world to explore! In 2015, Rebecca became "GiGi" when she became a grandmother to her first grandchild, Steven: the cutest, smartest, funniest, and most amazing person in the whole wide world. :) With his big, beautiful smile, it's easy to see that he'll be bringing laughs to all around him! Who knows, maybe he'll even perform one of his GiGi's monologues or plays in future school years! She also treasures her role as Mom to these fantastic kids: Heather, Kristina, Ashley, Jordan, Landen, son-in-love Chris, and daughter-in-love Tabby! (As well as future son-in-love, Kyle!) Whether you are an actor, writer, athlete, or scholar, Rebecca suggests this anonymous quote as a daily mantra: "You aren't finished when you lose; you are finished when you quit." Never quit.
