Overview

Nearly twenty years of poetry writing is exhibited in the current collection of sports poems in “101 Sports Poems - The Poems.”

Baseball - Basketball - Bicycling - Bowling - Cheerleading - Coaching - Dance - Drill Team - Fishing - Football - Golf - Gymnast - Horse Riding - Hunting - Inspiration - Martial Arts - Running - Soccer - Sports Fan - Swimming - Tennis - Trainer - Volleyball - Wrestling - Yoga & more!

Many of the sports experiences expressed by these poems are the result of direct experiences by the author, Felipe Adan Lerma. Now older, or as Adan puts it, “a young senior,” Adan narrates considerable commentary in the deluxe editions how the poems came to be written.

For the casual, or more serious reader, “The Poems” edition offers a straight-through reading enjoyment of all the various sports represented.

Some poetry is humorous, while others are seriously presented. After many decades of layman participatory sports, formally and informally, a wide gamut of feelings are found.

The list of sports poem topics includes, among many others, baseball, dance, horse riding, football, coaching, and volleyball.

Please read through the fully linked index for the complete list of sports topics and the titles within those topics.

A special section entitled “Singles” represents poems of which there is only one for that category. Major sports interests are included in this category, including basketball and gymnast.

The selection of poems, says Adan, smiling, "is a summary to-date, of all the wonderful sports I've enjoyed, as a child, a teen in school, as a young adult, and now, as what my wife and I like to call ourselves, young seniors."

Meet the Author

I have been writing since the early 70s, and continue to enjoy creating work that is, I feel, both from what I have experienced, and yet accessible and easy for most people to understand and identify with. I try for an every day flavor in my work.

Born and raised in Texas, and now a young senior living in Vermont, my wife Sheila's home state, I also try and bring an infusion of yoga and fitness to my life long interests in poetry, writing, painting, dance, photography, and the arts in general.

My self stated mission on my website, reads, "a Beginner's View : Integrating Yoga Fitness and the Arts."

These are my educational and training credentials. These type of studies, of course, help, incredibly. But remembering how much each of us has in common, is just as important.
