About the Author

Sarah Stanley is a certified therapeutic riding instructor and certified EAGALA (Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy) Practitioner. She has worked in the equine industry training horses and teaching riding lessons, both therapeutic and traditional, since 2011. Throughout this time, she has worked for several different facilities, and learned first hand what really works (and what really doesn't!). Sarah has always been passionate about the equine industry and knew from a young age that she wanted to make a career out of helping people through the incredible healing abilities that the relationship with horses can offer. In college, Sarah studied as a double major in Western Equestrian Studies, with a riding and training emphasis, and business. She also rode competitively on both the collegiate english and western IHSA teams. Throughout her extensive research and real life experience, Sarah has accrued several hundred teaching hours and worked closely with a large number of volunteers. Her experience with training and managing volunteers has inspired her to share the best tips for managing and engaging volunteers in a therapeutic or EAL program, and help others in the field maximize their volunteer retention and reap the best possible benefits of your volunteer engagement (while helping the volunteers to have the best experience possible in the process!). Learn from a real world professional who is active in the field and living this life every day just like you. Let's work together to take your volunteer engagement and retention to the next level!
