This book contains numerous errors. At times they do not agree with their own answer list when compared with the explanation. In the math section, they listed the answer as A, wrote the explanation for answer D, when, in fact, the answer was C.

On one math section, when I only checked the first ten problems, they have 4 answers listed that do not agree with the explanation answers. When I solved one of them, the answer did not exist in the list. They also promote the plug-in method of solving problems which is useless without a lists of answers. Totally disappointing. I would hate to count on this book for instruction. I bought it for a fun drill.

    HORRIBLE!!

i recently purchased this book frmo Barnes and Noble to prepare for the GRE. I was advised by a worker that The Princeton Review was a reliable company to go with, NO!! this is not true. I have done only a few of the drill tests so far and have already come across 3-4 typos, and not just simple typos... Typos that give a certain problem in the math section then when you look in the answer key/explanation section, they use a completely different number in an equation...makes studying even more confusing that it needs to be.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this book! There are much better books out there!

    more from this reviewer

    Don't buy this book.

Like others have said, there are many errors in this book. Even though the Princeton Review gives a correction sheet for the errors, there are still many that they have missed. There are also errors on the correction sheet itself. It is nice that each question has an explanation but, they are not very thorough. It seems obvious that this book was very rushed and not made with any attention to detail. While some answer explanations have lengthy answers, others are short-winded and give you nothing to work with and leave you with the feeling that they only gave you an "explanation" because they had to fill the space. Don't attempt to contact the Princeton Review either. They will not return your calls or e-mails. They have horrible customer service.

    Okay for extra practice problems

I picked up this book as an additional source for my studying needs. This is okay for extra practice and should not be a sole source when reviewing, especially if you have been out of touch with the math section. Formulas and in-depth discussions cannot be found here, and the book does recommend using the "Cracking the GRE" study guide for further help.

What I did not find helpful were the answer sections, especially in the math part. I found typographical errors (i.e. Answer to question #3 is actually the answer to question #5) within the book. I found that to be annoying and at the time, confusing. The writing portion of the book was minimal, and I think the other study guide (as well as on the ETS website) was much more useful. Overall, the book wasn't so bad, and while I have yet to take the GRE (soon!), I would not pass it up for more practice.

    I Also Recommend:

    A good supplemental book

This book contains over 1000 practice questions for the GRE. The questions cover all of the subject areas, and there are several sets for each type of question. It is a good supplemental text if you need some additional practice in a specific area. This book is NOT helpful for providing basic test-taking strategies; it simply isn't meant to fill that role. If you understand the strategies for taking the GRE, and just need some extra practice in a few areas, this book is worthwhile. For strategies, I used Kaplan's GRE Premier (see recommendation). I also listened to the Princeton Review Word Smart CD while I commute; that was quite helpful.
