Publishers Weekly
Sabuda's The 12 Days of Christmas Anniversary Edition comes with a three-dimensional ornament to mark this popular pop-up's decade of success. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Judy Rowen
This anniversary (10th) of Robert Sabuda's pop-up version of the familiar carol deserves to be wrapped carefully with the most delicate ornaments, to be brought down each holiday season to be savored anew. Intricate, white paper cutouts form three-dimensional versions of each of the gifts listed in the song. They gifts are made more realistic in this version. For instance, the four calling birds are in a cuckoo clock and the eight maids a-milking are gingerbread cookies. This special edition has a pop-up Christmas tree that lights up. In addition, there is a beautiful ornament that can be used to decorate your own tree.

I purchased this book at a fall bookfair for my then 5 yr.old daughter, she is now 8,and just yesterday we unpacked our Christmas items, and she insisted on looking through this over and over. It's a beautiful book, and we both can't get enough of it!

As much as I would like to give this a 5 star rating for the 'theatrics' of the pop ups, I can't because of the lack of research done for the sequence of lyrics. They're off from the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth. Just a little research on his part would have told him that there are twelve drummers drumming not twelve lords a-leaping, eleven pipers piping not eleven ladies dancing, ten lords a leaping not ten pipers piping, nine ladies dancing not nine drummers drumming. Yes there are white cut out pop-ups, but it is staged with color, so this is not totally distracting. All in all, I'd look for another one as I intend to do and give mine to someone who won't mind the errors.

Robert Sabuda missed the mark with this book. All white pop-ups are boring. Very disappointed.

Robert Sabuuda is one of my very favorite book "engineers" (for lack of a better term) however, I found the 12 Days of Christmas one of my least favorites in comparrison to other masterpieces that he created.
