Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Lively combinations of items add up to 11 in what PW called "a counting book with an innovative twist." Ages 2-6. (July)
Children's Literature
When most of us think of children's books, what comes to mind are storybooks revolving around human or animal characters. But what if the star character were a circle? Or a series of numbers? Or colors? These are the "stars" of what are called Concept Books, in which abstract concepts are fleshed out for children between the ages of 3 and 8. Books showing objects to be sorted teach the concept of kind. Books showing circles, squares, and triangles teach the beginning of geometric puzzles and math. Books showing objects that are opposites begin to teach synonyms/antonyms. Concept books are building blocks for children struggling to construct a verbal and special world.

An adult who still enjoys good children's books

I enjoyed the vivid pictures on each page of the book and the creative way that the author presents the concept of counting to 11. This book could be used to teach basic counting or more complex addition of several numbers, or even for simple multiplication.
