Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"What I like about the book is not just its simplicity but the conversation questions at the end of the book to help guide kids through learning about each of the landmarks featured throughout the book." —www.WiredMomma.com

"What I specifically like about the book is that it makes for a great shower gift or gift for friends traveling to town with little ones. I always love to give gifts that have something to do with Washington and this is a perfect gift to have on hand for such an occasion." —www.TheDCMoms.com

"Overall, a very cute board book especially for children who live near (or visit) the Washington D.C. area." —www.bookingmama.net

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
When you think of Washington D.C. what comes to mind? For many it might be the Capitol building or for others the White House or the Washington Monument. The cover of this board book features the Monument along with the Washington Zoo's famous pandas. The number 1 introduces the Capitol and 2 presents the pandas featured on the cover. The 3 monuments include the White House, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Succeeding pages take kids to the museums on the mall and of special interest are the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. There is the Washington Metro, boats on the Potomac River, books from the Library of Congress and Fourth of July fireworks on the Mall. The cherry blossoms were not really that recognizable because they appeared to be white instead of pink. The final spread offers discussion starters for each of the numbers. The book works for younger children learning to count and older children who may not be able to handle regular books but should be receptive to the questions. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
