The darkest of humours, the most wry of minds, the faintest of smirks. These and a good dollop for atmosphere come to a heady froth here in this collection.
I first read Paul's work in the Weird Noir collection, and that troubled werewolf Roman Dalton rears his head here in Drunk on the Moon, recounting another mysterious murder or three in the Underworld.
Other standouts (although they're all pretty darn good) include the wicked opener, The Tut - a recipe for hen-pecked bedevilment if ever there was, the sharp and stark The Ballad of the Kid, and The Final Cut - an espresso black hit of Noir that tickles the darkest chuckles in your head.
More please - there's more somewhere right?!
