Meet the Author

Barbara Ann Kipfer is the author of more than 45 books, ranging from 14,000 Things to Be happy About to Roget’s International Thesaurus, 7th Edition. She holds numerous degrees, including a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in linguistics, a Ph.D. in archaeology, and a Ph.D.. in Buddhist studies. She is a lexicographer and ethnographist and lives in New England.

    Brings a genuine smile to the face

    It's a very good, pick me up book that can be kept anywhere. The items bring back pleasant memories and puts an instant smile on one's face. Just keep it in your bag and take out in times of sadness or boredom and be pleasantly surprised.

    Fun Book!

    This book was recommended to me by a friend and I will be giving it to others for gifts. It is fun as well as a good conversation starter. Sorry I did not think to write it myself, but I can always make my own list to hand down to family members!

    Very Helpful!

    In Language Arts in school, we were doing a trimester on poetry. We read poetry, studied poetry, and wrote poetry. It was a lot more fun than reading a boring novel and then having a major essay test on it.(ugh) One day in study hall, I was working on my Where I'm From poem, and I was out of ideas. Then I remembered 14000 things to be happy about. I brought it out, skimmed through it, and it gave me a lot of great ideas for my poem. I was really greatful!

    Life 'Extender'

    This book is my own personal 'life extender.' My Mother bought this book for me while I was in the hospital for a Bone Marrow Transplant. I took comfort in reading this book each day. I marked next to the entries that made 'me' smile. I could not have made it through without this book. I intend to buy myself a new copy and mark entries once again, to see what has changed!

    A huge moodlifter

    This book was given to me while attending school out of state and my smiles were too infrequent, but reading through this 'list' made me smile and brought back many happy moments in my life. Ten Years later, I still pick it up and read one phrase each day, just to spark a wonderful memory. It will remind anyone who reads it to be grateful for the little things life has to offer.

    This book is the most wonderful book ever written. It will cheer you up no matter how sad you are. It will give you a warm feeling inside, make you laugh and make you cry. If you've never read this book, buy it immediately.
