    Not What I Hoped For

My feelings are kind of mixed on this little short story - there was a part of me that thought the message at the end was nice, although not nearly as well formed as it could have been, and then the other more dominant part of me just could not get past the unrealistic character of Landon (at least I think that is her name? It was only mentioned once.) She was the most blatantly unprofessional and weak-willed forensic psychologist I have ever read. What made me want to read this book in the first place was the aspect that someone who studies psychology could grow sympathetic or affectionate feelings for a person who just brutally murdered 18 people and what they would discover that would make that happen. But the psychological part of it fell short, even though correct terms were used, it just felt out of place and made to confuse/impress readers unfamiliar to psychology, and the reaction she had from the very first session was nothing short of inappropriate. Perhaps it all happened too fast for me to enjoy it or maybe if the author would have delved more into the characters, but it just wasn't what I had hoped for. In the end, the summary was better than the actual story.

You will like this book even though its about a mass killing. I thought it had a sweet ending.
