1919: Eternal

All Music Guide - Bradley Torreano
Forgoing the boozy Southern rock of their previous efforts, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society is in pure heavy metal mode on 1919 Eternal. With thick, Sabbath-influenced riffs plowing through with roaring vocals from Wylde, this is the first real impression of what he is capable of in heavy metal with Ozzy Osbourne guiding his melodies. Although nowhere near as catchy or poppy as his material with Osbourne, the songs are memorable enough and the decision to stick with heavy metal is welcome after some wishy-washy albums before 2000's like-minded Stronger Than Death.

    1919 Eternal

This was the first Black Label Society album I bought. I really enjoyed listening to this album. The riffs are great; they remind me of something out of the 80's, but they aren't thrashy like Shadows Fall. In my opinion only the late Dimebag of Pantera and Johnathan Donais of Shawdows Fall could have matched up with Zakk Wylde when it comes to guitar solos of the present day.
