1947 Klactoveedsedstene

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Stephen Cook
Mixing in both Savoy and Dial sides from Parker's 1947 sessions, 1947 Klactoveedsedstene frames one of bebop's central figures during the apex of his creative output. Joined by frequent collaborators Miles Davis, Duke Jordan, and Max Roach, Parker is heard to especially fine effect on "Bird Feathers," "Dewey Square," and "Donna Lee." And topping the whole set, Bird and trumpeter Fats Navarro really let loose on an amazing and extended take of "Ko-Ko." Not the best place for newcomers to start try collections on Savoy or Stash, this "year in the life" disc still packs it in with a hearty round of classic bebop.
