    The Beatles

Of course anyone who has heard The Beatles knows they're music is great. This set includes the songs that made them famous and the songs of when they were at they're best. I absolutely love this CD. It's worth it.

The Best of the Early Beatles

I was 8 years old in 1964, and I was there to witness the Beatles' invasion of America. I can say that there has been nothing since that has matched those phenominal mop-tops. They are still the greatest band that ever was! The Red Album has all the best early songs with the exception of the oh-so-beautiful song, "If I Fell." It is a great way for me to relive the musical days of the 60's, when on the radio there was almost nothing but one fantastic new Beatle song after another coming off the airwaves. All these songs are timeless classics. Songs like "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" are just bursting with joy, and when I listen to them today, I get that same wonderful exhilaration that I did listening as a child in 1964. It really brings back the carefree happiness and innocence of the time. WOW! You can't beat that. Songs such as "I Feel Fine" and "Hard Days Night" were filled with such excitement and fun that my sisters and I used to turn up the volume on the record player and just GET HAPPY! I'm forever grateful for the gift of the Beatles' music, and I feel sorry that others missed out on being there at that very special time in history. The world didn't go crazy for nothing. Their incredible musical talent blew us away. Listen to the Red Album and you'll understand. This would be the best album for new listeners to start out with. You won't be disappointed.

    An Amazing Compilation. . .

My parents, being born in 1957, grew up listening to The Beatles. As a matter of fact, the first time I heard this compilation, it was when my dad played it for me off his record. Much later, my grandmother bought it for me on CD, and then I played it constantly. Not only because it was good, but because to me, it is the time when The Beatles were the happiest -- the tracks ''She Loves You,'' ''I Want To Hold Your Hand,'' and ''All My Loving'' were all very happy times. Also, some very personal moments are deeply buried within this 2-CD set, in songs like ''In My Life,'' a song off Rubber Soul. The early days were filled with songs that were, in a way, talking to the fans, such as ''From Me To You,'' ''Love Me Do,'' and ''I Want To Hold Your Hand.'' Rubber Soul appears to have numerous hits which can be found here, which when you think about it isn't surprising. Rubber Soul was an indication that The Beatles were done writing songs for their fans. It is where we begin to see more interperspective songs, such as ''Nowhere Man,'' and ''In My Life.'' Rubber Soul was also the last album that The Beatles toured for. This was because the close harmonies in ''Nowhere Man'' and ''Paperback Writer'' were difficult to reproduce at a concert. They did do those songs, but they sound awful. Consiquently, Paperback Writer is the last song in this set that they performed live. The Beatles never toured for Revolver. As you can see, 1962--'66 only begins to explore The Beatles' musical beauty. But if you really want to do that, there are lots of wonders that will truely amaze you, and 1962--1966 is a great place to start.

Excellent way to start your collection

This was the first Beatles set I was introduced to by my friend who is their greatest fan. I was hooked instantly. The variety is excellent hitting on many of the slower songs and also their faster pop sound. If you are new to the Beatles and have been living a pointless life without them, get this album and suddenly you will have meaning. This is a must buy.

    Great CD!

This set of the Beatles is great! For more great music, check out the Beatles' other 2-Cd album, The Beatles 1967-1970.

    A Great Place to Start!

When this 2 Volume compilation was first released on vinyl in the 1970's, it was greeted with a great deal of cynicism from nearly all quarters. Simply put, it was widely preceived that 'money was loudly talking' as the primal force behind this project. [This was originally true. This project had as it's guiding force, the notorious Allen Klein.] But then as now, it's ultimately only the music that matters and to this end, these CDs succeed brilliantly in giving a wonderful smorgasborg of what the Beatles were truly about. Listen and you grab not only variety, but also witness The Fab's atonishing growth as artists! If you're not a Beatles' collector by now, I would highly, highly recommend this one a great place to start!
