2004 Space - Hubble Telescope Wall Calendarby Pomegranate
Deployed in 1990, the Hubble Telescope almost immediately began to expand our knowledge of the universe. Orbiting 380 miles above Earth, the Hubble continues to gather high-resolution images of astronomical objects and phenomena from the farthest reaches of space. This calendar presents twelve images of vast, lovely and unimaginably distant star systems and events transmitted from the floating observatory. Included are four exciting new photographs taken by the recently installed Advanced Camera for Surveys, which has doubled Hubble's viewing area and resolution. An informative description accompanies each spectacular image. Important dates in the history of space exploration appear throughout the calendar, and solar and lunar events are noted.
