Overview

In 1890, impressionist Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926) bought a house in Giverny, outside Paris, and transformed its extensive grounds into an artist's dreamscape of dazzling blooms and graceful greenery. Photographer Elizabeth Murray has visited Monet's house at Giverny each year since the 1980s, when she participated in a major restoration of the famous gardens. She now makes an annual pilgrimage to capture with her camera the garden's ever-changing fluctuations in light and color. Each of this calendar's fifty-three dazzling photographs is accompanied by a thorough description of the scene and a quotation by or about Monet. Also included are full-page 2008 and 2009 yearly grids, a list of international holidays, and a page for notes.
