Overview

Volume 11 of the Archive for the History of Religion is dedicated to two main subjects within the field of the history of ancient mediterranean religion. The first is that of the “sacral economy”, the question of the financing of the construction and running of temples, in particular how donations of money were handled, and those in kind were valued. The second theme, which is the subject of another four contributions, looks at “religion and literature”, literary descriptions of religious practices and beliefs, and the relevance of such reflexions for the field of religion itself.
