Meet the Author

Richard Minsky operates the Center for Book Arts in Manhattan, the first not-for-profit organization in America exclusively dedicated to promoting and advancing the art of the book with exhibitions, publications, classes, and workshops.

Minsky's work has been widely shown, including a twenty-five-year retrospective presented by HarperCollins Publishers. The Richard Minsky Archive is at Yale University's Haas Arts Library, which honored him in 2010 with an exhibition titled Material Meets Metaphor: A Half Century of Book Art by Richard Minsky. His work is in many public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

He produced a series of exhibitions of American Decorated Publishers' Bindings, 1872-1929, publishing limited-edition catalogs in 2006, 2009, and 2010 that documented 1,100 examples. In 2010 George Braziller, Inc., issued a trade edition of selections from these catalogs titled The Art of American Book Covers, 1875-1930, and in 2011 Braziller published The Book Art of Richard Minsky.
