Overview

2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is an engaging personal narrative through the author’s apprenticeship with master astrologer William Lonsdale who teaches him how to access a source of great power and creativity buried within the human soul.

The book begins in August 1987 on the slopes of Mount Shasta in Northern California as Borax witnesses the Harmonic Convergence, a spiritual and astrological event sparking a 26-year countdown to 2012, the year that marks the “end of history” in the Mayan calendar. Signs indicate that a “major energy shift” is occurring, a turning point in Earth’s collective karma powerful enough to change the global perspective of humankind.

Borax’s mountaintop experiences compel him to seek solutions to his personal turmoil. He meets Lonsdale and together they launch a mystery school to study how the twenty-five-year period between 1987 and 2012 can be used for a cosmic purging of negativity to release humanity’s core forces and restore universal balance. En route, Borax and his fellow students discover truths about life after death, karma, reincarnation, past lives, human evolution, and the purpose of our existence on earth. In the tradition of The Teachings of Don Juan, Carlos Castaneda’s tales of his shamanic master, 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is a gripping sorcerer’s apprentice story driven by mystical forces, encouraging readers to expand their everyday awareness and challenge their fundamental beliefs about their place in the universe.

Meet the Author

Mark Borax studied astrology with Ellias Lonsdale (called William Lonsdale in the book) and was part of the original mystery school that Lonsdale founded in the Santa Cruz Mountains in northern California in the 1980s. Mark Borax went on to develop Soul Level Astrology, a new form of astrology that looks deeper into the nature of the soul than traditional approaches.

From the Preface

...I’m often asked how I’ve come to do what I do—there are no current schools for wizards that I know of. But from 1987 to 1994 I learned my tradecraft the traditional way, by apprenticing to a stern taskmaster in his workshop in the woods. Ever since, I’ve been yearning to open the doors of our school to others, and this book is the result of that yearning.

This tale of my mystical apprenticeship lived inside me during the last twenty years beneath everything I did, stubbornly refusing to go away until I committed it to paper. It’s a true story of individuals who journeyed beyond the borders where the Known meets the Unknown, and came up with surprising conclusions, which became, for at least one of us, a matter of life and death.

This isn’t a novel, a dissection of ancient prophecies, or a list of predictions. Other recent and forthcoming books on 2012 are slanted in those directions and can be referred to for those. I’m not going to tell you what will happen in 2012, because even though I’ve been known to make accurate predictions now and then, the truth is I don’t know what’s going to happen. I have ideas, but much depends on the choices we now make. Much is riding upon how well we seize the moment. Much depends upon how Big you’re willing to dream.

Throughout my practice as Soul Level Astrologer during thelast two decades I’ve listened to the dreams of thousands. I’ve become a carrier of the dreams people hold in their hearts, helping them build bridges from here to there. I’ve learned many things about human transformation, what assists it, what supports it, what gets in the way. I’ve come to believe that some powerful new dream is gestating in the depths of our species. If enough of us catch wind of this dream we may usher in a future that stuns us by breaking the rules of what we think of as everyday life on Planet Earth.

Though astrology was the lure our canny wizard used to draw us into his mountain home, over the years I’ve found the story to be much bigger than star talk. Astrology is the main channel we tapped to haul up a new creation myth that appears to be bubbling in the depths of our species, a new dream of life on Earth unfolding more fully than before. But if we were correct and that dream is real—then it can be found anywhere. Astrology is a main access route but any path that goes deep enough can take you there. Anything that activates the core nature of a human being will suffice. Anything that ignites the urge to create a blazingly authentic existence during a time of great distortions and lies can tap the same wellspring, fortifying us to sweep away obsolete stories of what we’re doing around here and usher in something new.

Though they don’t all specifically agree on the year 2012, various cultural prophecies point to our era as a major pivot point in human evolution: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Hopi, Navajo, Buddhist and Mayan prophecy, sacred Hindu texts, among others. I’m not going to delve into these sources. My goal is to usher you down that private dirt driveway beneath the giant redwoods, and plant you on the couch in front of the crackling wood fire in that timeless cottage, where the mysteries burn bright, and together we can cross a bridge to the future.

IT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE

The magic and transformational power that is invoked so truly and powerfully through your honest story of your life and how it intertwines and weaves through the mystery school classes of the early nineties has - like magic - jump started my life. There should be a warning: this book could set your soul on fire without any effort - simply dive in and read. Is it a coincidence?? like all the 'coincidences' in your book? your writing is like poetry. Your story is of a true searcher of love, truth and beauty. I have been lucky enough to go to later star classes of ellias lonsdale and he is truly the master that you describe. Everyone should have at least one reading from ellias. And i'm sure by you too!!

My mother could not put it down.

I got it for a gift. My mother wanted information on 2012. She was enthralled with this book. She read it in two days and a week later she is reading it again. It was insightful and educational.

    Couldn't put it down!

I didn't know anything about 2012 until I was led to pick up this book. It totally resonated with me on so many levels and completely blew my mind. This book will really make you think down to your core and will make you question many things in this world you 'thought' to be true. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about finding their own truth and committed to their own soul purpose and destiny.

Past life integration and the mystery traditions of Santa Cruz

Spinning tales of his spiritual journeys up and down the West Coast, while struggling with the seemingly fleeting nature of his intimate relationships, Mark Borax encountered a deeply life affirming message taught him by a master astrologer and his wife. William 'Ellias' and Sara 'Theanna' Lonsdale conducted mystery school workshops in their home in Santa Cruz through the late nineteen eighties and early nineteen nineties, at which Borax recorded and transcribed their teachings. Through the Lonsdales' inspirational message of continuation and connection, the author offers a personal tribute to the work of two inspirational teachers who remind us what it means to be human. I've been greatly inspired by Mark's work with Star Genesis, the mystery tradition brought forth by the Lonsdales, through his Soul Level Astrology. 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future gives context to the previously published works of Ellias Lonsdale, which stands as a glimpse into this unique approach to reincarnation and present life integration.
