2015 Wolf Kahn Wall Calendarby Wolf Kahn
The violet hush of a twilit forest, a sunlit glen against a cobalt sky sensory appeal is almost palpable in Wolf Kahn's landscape paintings. Kahn emigrated from war-torn Europe in 1940. Gray-hued austerity marked his early works, but over the last fifty years he has become a master colorist at the forefront of artists fusing representation and abstraction. Now in his mideighties and not one to rest on his laurels, this member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters is deepening his painterly exploration of darkness and light. “Age can be wasted on the aged,” Kahn says, “unless one's capacity for wonder increases.”

Wolf Kahn is my favorite calendar to get every year and give as a gift. It's really a shame how BnN shipping department jammed two calendars into a box that is too small - bending them in half and damaging them before I even got them. Duh... Really? You couldn't find an envelope or a bigger box?
I like the work by Wolf Kahn, so it's nice to see a new painting of his on this calendar every month. The size is good, allowing enough room for daily notes.
