Meet the Author

It only takes a few minutes of thought before Peter Brandt can devise a scenario that would make a fantastic story, and minutes after that before it begins to fill itself in.

“I have been able to think up stories all my life but it’s only been in the last seven years that I realized I was abusing my creative side by not writing them down.”

Peter retired from the Air Force and began a new career as a Technical Writer. His writing abilities have allowed him to work in Canada, the United States and even in the Middle East.

However, its Peter’s love for stories that has brought him into a new realm of writing. His humorous memoir about his life as a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces and the tragic memoir about his father’s life in a Prisoner-of-War camp at the age of 14 allowed him to refine his writing before he began to venture in writing Young Adult fiction.

“I have a very unique way of creating my stories. It begins with a craving, like a smoker who just recently quit cigarettes but still feels an overwhelming craving for a smoke. When that comes, I can’t shake it until I sit down and begin to let my mind wander. Many times I start my quest for a new story by wondering - What If. Soon after I begin to write and can usually get the first draft completed within a few weeks.

Maple Express began as a “what if” question that involved a common held belief of the medical community and I’d share it with you but it would give away the storyline.”

Peter has taken formal lessons in acting,

"I've enjoyed some success as an actor in television and film before my day job as a Lead Technical Writer required me to move out of the country I always write my stories as I see them on the movie screen, which is why writing screenplays are also something I do with ease. I have written a couple of screenplays and shot them as short films with a friend of mine.

I can honestly say I have landed in the perfect job for me. I love to write...doesn’t really matter what I write, creatively or technically, writing is a pleasurable experience. It has allowed me to travel and for that I am grateful.”

It took me awhile to get into the story. It would have been a good book for teens except the author felt the need for profanity and sexual situations. This is a science fiction which could come to pass although it went extreme. The main characters are teenagers yet I would hate for my teen to read this.

It's almost 500 pages long and it's free. If you get through the first three chapters or so it gets to be pretty good. I liked it, it was worth my time. What I wasn't too thrilled about was the ending (it's as if the last few chapters were very rushed and not well thought out) and the awful grammar throughout the book. NOTE: There are about 3 sexual situations that take place in the last 200 pages, so if you are concerned about your child reaading this you should check that out first. Other than that there isn'treally anything too offensive to be worried about. OVERALL QUALITY: I give it a B+

I found this one pretty entertaining, almost a page turner. Very easy light read. One suprise, at first I thought my kids could read it too, however the storyline gets very sexual at the end.... parents advised.... Other than this advisory, I was very content with another excellent FREE read...... Thanks Peter!

I liked the story and the author did a pretty good job with his world building & character development. I felt the last several chapters were a bit "rushed" but that was only because the author paid such meticulous attention to detail in throughout the book. I would be interested in reading a "book II" were the author so inclined. A bit of drag here and there but nothing that can't be worked on. All in all, a good & solid read. Thankyou

I liked this book but I just wish it was a little longer. But great plot and line of events. It starts a little slow at first but it gets better if you get past that. A very good book for free, quick reading. :)

This book is the most amazing book ever! Its about two young boys that are cousins. One cousin goes to visit the other while his parents are house hunting. He stays with his cousin in a town called Treasure Town. They meet ghosts, and they find treasure only to have it taken as they could not carry it all. The man who took the treasure, gets into an accident and forgets everyhung that happens that night. The treasure is not recovered by the boys or the police, but by the local natives in which the treasure turns up. I strongly recommend this book to anyine who has a sense in adverture or someone who is looking for a quick read, but doesnt want a book that will go by so fast, that they dont remember much about it. It is well written and was worth the read. I absolutely love this book.

I tried to stay with it but it was just too hard to keep up with the story line. You have to have a great imagination to keep up with how the world will be in 2066.

This was a great story with a great ending. I really enjoyed the story ine. The auther left it open for a part two if he decideds to go that avenue.

Started out okay. Soon turned into a confusing mess. Characters weak and not believable.

I dont know if I should take the time reading this... Especially with all the mixed up reviews. Some say it's OK and some say it's great or just plain horrible... It would help if someone would tell me what the story is really about because the description isn't the most helpful thing...

I am 10 years old and know about the "stuff." I read the reviews and want to know if I should read it. Other than the part at the end, it sounds really good! If you have an answer, title it 'Question,' please. Thank you SO much!!!!!
