It would be nearly impossible -- in the space of one album -- to compile a selection of show tunes that covered everyone's most beloved songs: inevitably, some favorites would be omitted. However, 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: Best of Musicals doesn't do a bad job of collecting some of the more well-known numbers, including (all from original cast recordings) "The Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, "Seventy-Six Trombones" from The Music Man, "All That Jazz" from Chicago (1998 London cast), and "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables. Of course, there are notable exclusions (something from Hello Dolly! or Hair, for example), and why there are two songs from Man of La Mancha is a little confusing, but Best of Musicals is still a good, fun collection that will satiate fans of musical theater of all ages.
