About the Author

Joseph Dirkx is a native Californian who has held a lifelong interest in literature and the arts. He attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Shunning corporate life, he sought to learn about life on his own terms - much like the protagonist of William Saroyan’s short story, “Resurrection of a Life.” To that end, he worked a series of jobs which all proved to be ultimately dissatisfying. Along the way, he gained experiences and lost and found both friends and relationships. Some of those experiences and relationships are the subject of 22 Horses and Other Poems.
