Editorial Reviews

CM Magazine
"A simply told yet fast-paced and colourful blend of humour and drama. Becky, Violet, and Jason—Becky's animal-activist brother, are well-rounded, credible characters...This book will certainly appeal to female readers. Highly Recommended."
Children's Literature - Tina Chan
"Super talented new kids can make you feel like a loser." "Parents are allowed to drag you anywhere." "Three years is a long time if you're twelve." These are some of the tips for surviving grade six. The story follows Becky, who meets Violet, the new girl in the neighborhood and school. At first, Becky is jealous of Violet because Violet is smart, athletic, wears nice clothes, and travels the world with her family. However, the two eventually become best friends. This story would not be complete without mentioning boys. Becky has a crush on her classmate named Scott and a circus acrobat named Carlos, while Violet has a crush on Becky's brother, Jason. Although the title does not suggest gender, boys may be deterred by the magenta cover of the book. This book is a sweet, heartfelt story for upper level elementary school girls who want to read about life in middle school. Reviewer: Tina Chan
