About the Author

Dr Nguyen Thanh-Hai, Associate Professor, is with the Head Department and Lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, HCM City University of Technology, Vietnam. His research interests include ultrasonic plastic welding, ultrasonic-assisted arc welding, ultrasonic-assisted casting and materials heat treatment. He had published more than 20 papers. He has undertaken more than 05 projects from the University, Vietnam National University and Department of Science and Technology, HCM City.

Dr Ngo Ha Quang Thinh, Associate Professor, is received the B.S. degree from Department of Mechatronics, HCMC University of Technology (VNU-HCM) in 2006, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Department of Intelligent System from Dong-Eui University, Korea, in 2009 and 2015, respectively. At present, he is an Associate Professor in Department of Mechatronics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, VNU-HCM. His research interests consist of motion control, real-time systems and control theory.

Dr. Ngo was a member of the Editorial Board in several International Journals, and served as Co-Chair/Technical Program Committee in several International Conferences. In addition, he also plays a role as reviewer in some prestigious journals. He received the VNU-HCM Award for Research Excellence in 2020 and 2023, and the Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowships for Leaders in Innovation in 2021.

Dr Nguyen Huu Loc, Professor, received both Engineer’s and Ph.D. degree in Belorussian State Technological University in 1988 and 1992 respectively. Currently, he is a Full Professor in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). His research interests include: mechanical design of machines and machine components: geometric modeling, simulation and optimization, reliability-based design; optimization of technological and engineering parameters of machines.

Dr Le Chi Hiep, Professor, has been working actively in the energy field since 1979, specializing in thermal & refrigeration engineering, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technology. Within the scope of the University of Technology - Vietnam National University/Ho Chi Minh City, he served as head of the Department of Thermal & Refrigeration Engineering Technology from 2002 until the end of 2018, while also continuously chairing the university’s interdisciplinary energy program for many years. Additionally, in 2012, he initiated the idea and organized the establishment of the Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Technology - Vietnam National University/Ho Chi Minh City, which was officially approved in 2015.

At the Vietnam National University level, he pioneered the Energy Program and became the first Chair of this program in 2006. In 2012, this program evolved into the Council on Environment - Resources - Energy belonging Vietnam National University/Ho Chi Minh City, and he continued to serve as Chair of the Council until 2022.

On the national level, he was appointed a member of the leadership board for the state-level energy program named KC.05/16-20 for the 2016-2020 period.

Throughout his career, recognizing the global urgency of energy issues, he pioneered the regular organization of national-scale international scientific conferences on energy, with the first conference organized by him in 2009.
