The Adventures of Lady: The Big Storm by Iris Pearson and Mike Merrill is a heartfelt and colorful story of a stranded squirrel yearning for home.

WINNER of the 2007 New York Book Festival Best Children’s Book Award
The Adventures of Lady: The Big Storm, a children’s book by Iris Pearson and Mike Merrill, explores children’s fears of being left alone and inspires the understanding that even in the darkest of times, something wonderful is often just around the bend. Iris Pearson and Mike Merrill have written a soothing children’s book that is as enchanting as it is educational. The Adventures of Lady: The Big Storm is the story of one scared and lost little squirrel named Lady, who pops up in a strange backyard. A kind human and the Wildlife Center soon come to her rescue. Lady is cared for and soon grows strong enough to return to the wild. Gorgeously illustrated and brimming with color, the book is written in warm, conversational prose which is perfect for beginning readers.

About the Authors
Iris Pearson is a Television and Film Production Accountant. She works with a group of former Disney Animators who illustrated the book. Iris has worked on television shows and films for ABC, Disney, Universal Pictures, HBO and the Travel Channel. Co-writer, Mike Merrill is a Certified Public Accountant with a Masters in Business Administration. Most importantly, Mike gladly helps support Lady (and all her friends’) daily food supply – that’s a lot of nuts! Together, Iris and Mike raised 5 baby squirrels. In spending so much time with the squirrels, Iris and Mike discovered each had a very individual and distinct personality. Each of
the upcoming books in the series is about a different squirrel and his or her very unique traits and issues. Iris and Mike hope that children and parents will find these stories entertaining and that the book is helpful to those who may have had experiences similar to those of the squirrels. Iris and Mike have 4 additional stories about Lady and her friends in development.

    Beautiful Illustrations - Cute Story

Wow - for a $.99 book, it's wonderful! The story is very cute (both of my daughters loved it). But what's more is the fact that with the NookColor I'm trying to find books with full page color illustrations - this one was gorgeous!! I plan on looking up others from them!!!

absolutely gorgeous pictures on nook color!!

I bought this the day i got my new nook color mainly to test out how picture books would look before i shelled out a lot of money for them. I was not expecting much for .99 but i was pleasantly surprised! this book has awesome illustration which look fabulous on the nook color, and an easy to follow storyline which my six year old adores. My six year old wants to hear more from Lady! Super cute read i highly recommend!!

    problem

It didn't load correctly on my nook, or nook for IPAD. Good thing it was free when I got it. Other then that it was a cute book but three stars for the technical problem. Every page is repeated twice, very annoying.
